I accidentally deleted a note, how can I recover it?

Restoring a deleted note

  1. Open the Inkpad app home screen.
  2. Press the menu icon in the upper left corner of the screen to open the drawer menu.
  3. Select Trashed Notes.
  4. Tap on the note you wish to restore and then tap on the Restore button.

For older versions of Inkpad on Android (before the Trashed Notes feature):

Attach the device to your computer via USB cable (or use a File Explorer app) to look for the "Inkpad_Notepad/backup" folder on the device. In that folder you will see a group of other folders, each containing the last few versions of a note. You can then copy/paste the contents of the note back into a new note in Inkpad.

Restoring a note to a previous version (premium)

If you need to restore a previous version of an existing note (for example if you deleted the text inside the note, but did not actually delete the note itself), you will need to sign into the website (www.InkpadNotepad.com) from your computer using the same Google account you use for Inkpad on your phone. Select the note, and click on the "View note history" link located below the "Save" button.

My notes won't sync between my phone and online account

Syncing always occurs from within the Inkpad Android app, so if you edit a note on the website you will need to open the Inkpad app on your phone and press the sync button at the top of the app home-screen to retrieve any changes from your online account.

Syncing will send any modified notes from your phone to the web, and at the same time retrieve the most recent changes from your online account back to your phone.

Troubleshooting steps:

Refresh the web page

If you edited a note in the Inkpad app on your phone, but it doesn't change in your online account, refresh the web page in your web browser (reload the page). This will ensure that the latest results are displayed.

Make sure you are signed in with the same Google account on your phone and the web
  1. Open the Inkpad Android app settings on your phone.
  2. Scroll down to "Google account" to find out which Google account you used to sign into the app.
  3. On your computer, open the InkpadNotepad.com website in your web browser.
  4. Check on the email address displayed on the upper left corner of the website is the same as the on in Inkpad app settings on your phone.
  5. If the email address displayed on the website is not the same, click on the "Sign out" link at the top right corner of the web page.
  6. Sign in again with the same Google account displayed under Inkpad app settings on your phone.

Is Inkpad free?

Inkpad Notepad is free by default. Free accounts can sync to the web a limited number of times each day. If you run out of free syncs, any notes you edit or create will be saved locally on your phone, but you won't be able to sync them to your online account until your free quota resets. Free quota resets every 24 hours.

If you like you can upgrade to a premium subscription, but it requires that you select a premium subscription and enter your credit card details, so it does not happen automatically.

I don't see my notes when I sign into the website

Make sure you are signed in with the same Google account on your phone and the web

Your Inkpad account and notes are associated with the Google account you use to sign into that account.

How do I get my notes from my old phone/tablet to my new one?

Your Inkpad account and notes are associated with the Google account you use to sign in. As long as you setup your new device with the same Google account, and select that Google account for signing in, when syncing finishes you should see your notes on your new phone/tablet. You can also go to InkpadNotepad.com and sign in with your Google account to access your notes from your computer's web browser.

I installed Inkpad on a new device, but my notes are gone

If you setup your new device with a different Google account, then you will have to add the correct Google account (open your device's settings and go to Accounts -> Add -> Google -> Add existing account), then uninstall and reinstall the Inkpad app on that device. When you open it for the first time you will be prompted to select a Google account for signing in. Make sure you select the newly added Google account and when syncing finishes you should see all of your old notes

Alternatively you can sign into your Inkpad account at InkpadNotepad.com (important: make sure you sign in with the same Google account you use to sign into the Inkpad Android app). Just click on the "Go premium" link.

How can I update my credit card details for my premium subscription?

To update your credit card details you can open the Inkpad Android app settings and then tap on the "Premium enabled" option. This will open the premium account page where you can enter a new credit card.

Alternatively, go to www.InkpadNotepad.com in your computer's web browser, making sure you sign in with your Google account. Click on the "Settings" link at the top of the web page, then on the "Change" link next to account type.

I upgraded to premium from the website, but the Inkpad Android app says it's still a free account

  2. Open the Inkpad app settings (open the app home-screen and press the menu button, then select "Settings").
  3. Scroll down to "Google account" to find out which Google account you used to sign in. Next, take the following steps from your computer:

  1. In your browser, check that the email address displayed at the top left corner of the InkpadNotepad.com website matches the email address displayed under your Inkpad Android app settings.
  2. If the email addresses do not match, then you are signed into a different Inkpad account than the on you are using on your Android device. In that case, cancel the subscription for this account (click on the "Settings" link, then on the "Change" link next to Account Status, and finally click on the "Stop subscription" link). Next click on the "Sign out" link and then sign in again with the same Google account listed in your Inkpad app settings on your Android device.
